future imperfect: red list for some who need water

Endangered fish and amphibians (with one tiny reptile included) drawn on soluble starch, each hang by a hair over the water that will dissolve them. Each of the 43 Petri dishes sits on a red sticker, reflecting the hue onto the starch drawing, the gallery wall, and the viewer depending upon positioning.
The title refers to our current cultures’ misunderstanding of past cultures in odd or funny ways, as paradigms, languages, and bodies of knowledge shift and evolve; and it also refers to the impending, horrific loss of species to which we are actively contributing.
